In the seventeenth century, New England Puritans tried to create a model society. What were their aspirations and to what extent were those aspirations fulfilled during the seventeenth century?
When studying history, religion is a concept we all struggle to make sense of. What are Puritans? Are they Protestants, or are they completely different? Why did they break away from Catholicism? What to they believe in? Why was there so much tension between people with different beliefs back in the 17th century? I think we really need to know what Puritanism is before even trying to understand and answer this question. Here is a link I thought to be beneficial: http://www.history.com/topics/puritanism
